TOWSON, Md. (April 7, 2011) – DEWALT® announced today the launch of its 15 Ounce Framing Hammer (DWHT51138) as part of its new line of industrial hand tools. The tape measure features an oversized end hook for high grabbing capability on jobsite materials, as well as 13 feet of blade standout to maximize productivity and ease-of-use. Both features allow the user to work alone where standard tapes fall short of the task.

“The new 1.25 inch, 25 Foot Short Tape touts several product innovations to help contractors become as efficient as possible on the jobsite,” said Tom Chang, global product manager, tape rules. “Standard tape measures feature end hooks that can only grasp materials from the bottom; however, our end hook can also grasp materials from the top and sides, making it easier to measure even the most challenging materials on the jobsite. TOWSON, Md. (April 14, 2011) – DEWALT® announced today the launch of its Folding Retractable Utility Knife (DWHT10035) as part of its new line of industrial hand tools. The DWHT10035 is one of the first hybrid folding retractable utility knives on the market. It combines the space savings capability of a folding utility knife with the convenience and functionality of a traditional retractable utility knife.

“Today’s utility knives tend to be either folding or retractable, but with the launch of the DWHT10035, we are offering a solution that provides the best of both worlds,” said Sara Godding, global product manager, knives and blades. “Its unique hybrid design comes as a result of comprehensive field research and talking to users about their jobsite challenges. We spent numerous hours on jobsites observing the ways contractors use utility knives to come up with products that help them be more productive and profitable. A metal body provides durability while its ergonomic soft grip offers comfort to help reduce fatigue. The two-in-one storage solution allows contractors to easily store power tools, hand tools and accessories—like drill bits, nails and screws—in the power tool case, which also functions as a lid. For internal storage customization, the tool case has a removable divider that stores larger items in the bottom of the tote, helping to eliminate the need for multiple tool bags.

“Our new storage solution offers contractors a means of organizing, sorting and transporting their tools from one jobsite to the next,” said Naama Eylon, storage commercialization manager. “After talking to contractors on jobsites across the country, we realized that there was a demand for a versatile and durable storage container that eliminates the need for multiple tool boxes and bags. With proven technology and innovations that matter, we’re confident that this product will meet professionals’ functional needs and deliver the durability and quality they expect from DEWALT .”

Designed and continually optimized to perform under real-life conditions, the power tool case boasts a clearly visible yellow button on the front of the unit that allows for easy detaching/attaching of the tool case to the tote.

For trouble-free transportation around the jobsite, the tote is equipped with a reinforced metal handle that allows for an easy grip and enables the unit to carry a maximum load of 70 pounds.

Looking to build an easy-to-use and durable storage solution, the DEWALT unit’s handle stays in a locked position when the case is being carried upright, but it easily folds to a side when the unit is placed on a surface. The tool case also features anti-rust metal latches and hinges for durability.

Complete with a limited lifetime warranty, the 24 Inch Tote with Power Tool Case will be beginning in June 2011, and it is expected to retail for approximately $25.

New DeWalt Hand Tools-- 5 in 1 Hack Saw

Now this is the coolest saw ever----not only does it configure differently for the hack blade but you can also use reciprocating saw blades in it!!  How cool is that-- heres the info and follow the link to get yours---

New DEWALT® 5-in-1 Hacksaw Provides an Innovative Saw Solution for Contractors

TOWSON, Md. (June 2, 2011) – DEWALT announced today the introduction of its 5-in-1 Hacksaw (DWHT20547). The saw provides general contractors, electricians, plumbers and metal fabricators five saws in one tool, helping to eliminate the need for multiple handsaws for a variety of jobsite applications.

“Our new aluminum die-cast hacksaw offers professionals the functionality, convenience and comfort of five different saws in one,” said Tuck Viyakornvilas, product manager. “After talking to contractors on jobsites across the country, we realized there was a demand for a versatile and durable hacksaw that eliminates the need for multiple saws and continues the tradition of tough, workhorse solutions that DEWALT tools provide.”

Meeting the demands of real-life conditions, the 5-in-1 hacksaw is designed to perform five of the most common tasks found on the jobsite. The standard high-tension application acts as a typical 90 degree hacksaw, securely holds the blade up to 330 lbs. and is ideal for cutting PVC and metal piping. For 45 degree flush cuts, the contractor can simply remove the blade, flip the saw over and place the blade on the opposite side of the frame, making a 45 degree angle to the saw handle. The contractor can then remove the blade and the rubber over-molded die-cast nosepiece and insert the blade back in the main frame, transforming the tool into a low-profile hacksaw for cutting in tight or confined spaces.

For hard to reach applications on the jobsite, today’s professional can also convert the saw into a long reach hacksaw. The contractor can remove the hacksaw blade, loosen the blade storage knob on the top of the saw, remove the reciprocating saw blade from the storage compartment and insert and tighten the reciprocating saw blade or the hacksaw blade in the front of the saw for long reach. Finally, the saw can be changed into a pistol-grip jab saw for drywall applications. Professionals can simply insert the reciprocating saw blade into the bi-material nosepiece and tighten.

Complete with a limited lifetime warranty, the 5-in-1 Hacksaw will be available through independent distributors and two-step distribution beginning in July 2011, and it is expected to retail for approximately $24.97. The new saw comes equipped with one hacksaw blade and one reciprocating saw blade.

Heres more info on more of the new DeWalt 20 volt line-- check it out and follow the links!!

DEWALT® Launches New 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion Premium Drill/Driver and Hammerdrill to Provide the Durability and Performance Needed to Tackle Heavy-Duty Tasks

TOWSON, Md. (June 2, 2011) – DEWALT announces the launch of its new 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion premium hammerdrill (DCD985L2) and premium drill/driver (DCD980L2). Features of the new hammerdrill and drill/driver include a three-speed all metal transmission, ½-inch metal ratcheting chuck and all metal gear housing meet professionals’ demands for extreme durability, performance and comfort. These two new drills are ideal for commercial and residential builders, electricians, plumbers, remodelers, carpenters, cabinetmakers and installers, and woodworkers.

“The goal of this drill project was to deliver the most versatile and robust cordless drill for contractors who rely on their tools everyday. At the same time we used our new 20 Volt MAX* platform to improve the grip and overall ergonomics of our premium drills,” explains Joerg Zellerhoff, senior product manager, DEWALT.

For the performance contractors expect, each of the new premium drills offer an all-metal, three-speed transmission that delivers 0-600, 0-1,250, and 0-2,000 RPM, depending on the setting.

These three settings allow contractors to select the appropriate speed for the application at hand and provide the user with a significant advantage for applications that cannot be done in high speed due to the torque requirement. While other drills would have to be set to the slowest speed, each of DEWALT premium drills has a middle speed setting that is more than twice as fast for applications such as drilling larger ship auger bits. Also, each of the premium drills incorporate a slim handle design that provides comforts to professionals.

Each of the premium hammerdrill and drill/driver feature a ½-inch metal ratcheting chuck with carbide inserts that helps to reduce bit slippage during high torque applications and provides long life. Each tool also features a bright LED work light above the trigger, which provides a 20 second delay for use in dimly lit spaces.

DEWALT-designed electronics are built into the switches of all 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion tools and lights. These electronics provide maximum life for the tools and batteries by helping to protect them from overheating, overloading and deep discharge during use. The charger for each of the tools in the system has dual voltage capabilities, and it is compatible with 12 Volt MAX* and 20 Volt MAX* DEWALT Lithium Ion batteries.

The new 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion premium drill/driver and hammerdrill will be available anywhere DEWALT products are sold in September 2011. The premium hammerdrill is expected to retail for $299.00, and the premium drill/driver is expected to retail for $279.00. Each of the drills will come standard with two 3.0 Ah Lithium Ion batteries and a charger. They also will be offered in a variety of combo kit options.

The drills will come standard with a three-year limited warranty, one-year free service contract and 90-day money-back guarantee.

Re-Open Moss St.

Moss St. has been a main thru way for Silver Hills and others for 30+ years. The closer is burden on our community for many reasons.
Reasons why Moss Street should be REOPENED

1. This road has been used for 30 plus years by the community.
2. There is now only ONE way in and out for 80 families.

3. Road has been a thru way for surrounding community not just Silver Hills.
4. Safety issues have been sited as road closure—consider this—Blair/Alice entrance is right next to a very large sink hole, Alice street has washed out leaving only the Moss Street as a way in and out.
5. If the area, which is a wooded area, ever has a fire due to drought or act of God, etc, you are leaving many families in harms way with limiting the area to only ONE way out.

6. Residents now have to travel 1.3 miles further in and out to get to work and home again.

7. Contraire to DPW—School district has used Moss Street as a way in and out. Our children have used Moss street to get to the bus stop over in Oak Acres to get to school.

8. Contraire to DPW—Law enforcement uses Moss Street on a regular basis.
9. Ambulance and other emergency vehicles have used Moss Street for years.
10. There has been a problem with Oak Acres for years-- since it (oak acres) started to build up they have wanted to close our road. The county should have improved this road years ago to solve this problem between the two communities.
11. We (Silver Hills) have been told in the past from Mr. Radakey and Mr. Mixon that this road would not close because so many people used the road.
12. Traffic counts by the DPW show that Moss Street is a thru street for our area.
13. Over the past years there has been a lot of development to the south of us—shopping, schools, etc. which means we are going to use Moss Street as our way to these areas. Again not just Silver Hills but the surrounding area also.
14. Moss Street is used on a regular basis by the trash company, UPS, FedEx and others as part of their routes of doing business.
15. Blair St is NOT properly maintained by the county to FORCE all of us to HAVE to use this road. This road if full of huge pot holes – most of us choose to go out Moss Street instead of going out on Blair because of the condition of the road.
16. County maps and all other Map companies show Moss Street to Oakcrest Circle as a road.
17. Silver Hills community was here long before Oak Acres—we have no problem with the road as it is, we have used it for many, many years without incident. The only problem is oak acres.

18. You are hereby notified of potential liability that may arise to Silver Hills due to the closure of Moss Street exit.

NEW DeWalt 20 volt Impact Drivers

Here is yet another new 20 vt tool-- everyones favorite- the impact driver-- there are two to choose from the difference being the batteries that come with the tool.  Check out the info below and click on the links for more detailed specs ---

DEWALT® Launches New 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion ¼ ” Impact Driver to Meet Increasing Demand for Fast, Lightweight, and Compact Power Tools on the Jobsite

TOWSON, Md. (June 2, 2011) – Today, DEWALT meets the growing demand for impact drivers on professional jobsites with the introduction of two new 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion impact drivers, available with both 1.5 Amp Hour (Ah) (DCF885C2) and 3.0 Ah Lithium Ion batteries (DCF885L2). Features of the new impact drivers such as speed, compact size and a one-handed loading chuck deliver improved performance, ergonomics and innovation when compared to other impact drivers on the market.

The small, lightweight design of these tools are ideal for cabinetmakers and HVAC professionals in addition to steel stud framers, electrical, mechanical and general contractors who frequently perform drilling and fastening applications overhead or in tight spaces.

“There is an increased demand for impact drivers globally because these tools offer the versatility and durability professionals need in a compact yet very powerful package,” said Jeremy Torok, senior product manger, DEWALT. “Due to hundreds of hours of jobsite research around the world, we know that professionals are using impact drivers more frequently.

“We have optimized our 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion models so they can handle a variety of applications and withstand daily jobsite wear and tear while giving users features that allow them to work more productively.”

With a durable motor that delivers 2,800 RPM, the DCF885C2 and DCF885L2 impact drivers are up to 57 percent faster versus other leading 18 Volt Lithium Ion tools. The only difference between the two units is in their battery power. The DCF885C2 features a 1.5 Ah Lithium Ion battery, and the DCF885L2 offers a 3.0 Ah Lithium Ion battery that provide longer runtime than its counterpart.

Research shows that the growing popularity of impact drivers is largely due to the fact that these tools are smaller and more compact than drills, and they eliminate reactionary torque (kickback) due to the impact mechanism within the tool. Knowing that size and weight are extremely important to impact driver users, the new DEWALT 1.5 Ah and 3.0 Ah 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion impact drivers are small in size and lightweight. Both units measure 5.55 inches from front to back, and they weigh 2.8 pounds and 3.4 pounds, respectively. Also, these tools feature the same slim handle design as the other products in DEWALT’s new 20 Volt MAX* system, which contributes to the comfort users will experience when using these tools.

DEWALT is dedicated to improving and optimizing their products to meet contractors’ needs. An example of how DEWALT continues to enhance their tools is the one-handed loading ¼-inch hex chuck that is featured on both 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion impact drivers.

This chuck accepts and holds one-inch bit tips for convenient fastening in tight spaces. Each impact driver also comes with an all-metal belt hook that can be attached to either side of the tool. Additionally, the innovative LED lights, which incorporate three LED lights around the chuck of the tool, help to provide visibility without shadows in dimly lit spaces. The lights remain on for 20 seconds after the trigger is released for added visibility.

“On the jobsite, interaction with end users was absolutely critical in designing these tools. The product development team responsible for these new impact drivers team is excited to be able to incorporate so many new features,” Torok said.

DEWALT-designed electronics are built into the switches of all 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion tools and lights. These electronics provide maximum life for the tools and batteries by helping to protect them from overheating, overloading and deep discharge during use. The charger for each of the tools in the 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion system has dual voltage capabilities, and it is compatible with 12 Volt MAX* and 20 Volt MAX* DEWALT Lithium Ion batteries.

The new 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion impact drivers will be available anywhere DEWALT products are sold in September 2011. The DCF885C2 is expected to retail for approximately $219.00, and the DCF885L2 is expected to retail for $269.00. The tools will be offered in a variety of combo kit options.

There are a number of DEWALT accessories, specifically the IMPACT READY Accessory line, that are rated for use with impact drivers.

NEW DeWalt 20 volt Right Angle Drill

Here is yet another great 20 volt tool from DeWalt-- most of them are supposed to be available in September but others have no date so keep watch at the website for availability-- here is the info on the drill:

DEWALT® Launches New 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion Right Angle Drill Designed for Ease of Use in Tight Spaces and In High Torque Applications

TOWSON, Md. (June 2, 2011) – DEWALT announces the launch of its new 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion Right Angle Drill (DCD740C1), which includes a two-speed transmission and an ergonomic handle for performance and ease of use. The new right angle drill is ideal for remodelers, carpenters, cabinetmakers and installers, woodworkers, electricians, steel stud framers and plumbers.

“We know that professionals often need a right angle drill to fit in some of the tightest spaces, so we designed our new model to be as compact as possible while still powerful enough to get the job done,” said Joerg Zellerhoff, senior product manager, DEWALT. “Although the 20 Volt MAX* right angle drill is small, we’re confident it is powerful and durable enough to meet the needs of contractors.”

For improved performance and increased productivity when compared to existing right angle drills, the DCD740C1 features a high-speed transmission that delivers 0-650/0-2,000 RPM.

To provide a right angle drill professionals can rely on for all-day use, DEWALT also designed the new DCD740CL to feature a 3/8-inch deep hex pocket, which allows a 2-inch hex bit to be installed almost all the way into the chuck. This feature further reduces overall length (including the bit) to 4 ½-inches and makes this cordless right angle drill ideal for getting into very tight spaces.

The new right angle drill weighs only 3.8 pounds and measures 4-inches in length from front to back, making it ideal for applications in tight spaces. Additionally, the product features the new, slim and ergonomic handle design that comes standard on other DEWALT 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion products to ensure the tools are as comfortable as possible in contractors’ hands.

DEWALT-designed electronics are built into the switches of all 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion tools and lights. These electronics provide maximum life for the tools and batteries by helping to protect them from overheating, overloading and deep discharge during use. The charger for each of the items in the line has dual voltage capabilities and is compatible with 12 Volt MAX* and 20 Volt MAX* DEWALT Lithium Ion batteries.

The new 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion right angle drill will be available in September 2011 anywhere DEWALT products are sold. It is expected to retail for $199.00, and will come equipped with a 1.5 Amp Hours (Ah) Lithium Ion battery and charger.

The LED bulb also creates less heat than conventional Xenon bulbs.

“We spent time on the jobsite with contractors to better understand how they work in small spaces with poor lighting, which gave us a first-hand look at the difficulties users face when handling and positioning work lights to allow for hand-free usage and multitasking,” said Jim Watson, senior product manager, DEWALT. “In addition to engineering the new 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion Work Light to include LED technology, resulting in a clear and bright light, we incorporated features such as a pivoting head and hang hook to solve end user frustrations with light positioning.

The pivoting head rotates 120 degrees with 11 detent positions for a wide range of visibility and the ability to easily lock-in the light projection angle. The integrated hang hook allows for hands-free capability in that it can be hung in spaces where added visibility is required.

With 110 Lumens that deliver bright white LED light output to easily differentiate between colors and help reduce shadows, the DEWALT 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion Work Light is an obvious choice for contractors. DEWALT® Launches New 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion Compact Drill/Driver and Compact Hammer Drill to Deliver Ergonomics and Fast Performance In A Variety of Drilling and Fastening Applications

TOWSON, Md. (June 2, 2011) – DEWALT announces the launch of its new 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion compact drill/driver (DCD780C2) and compact hammer drill (DCD785C2). Ideal for professionals including remodelers, carpenters, cabinetmakers and installers, woodworkers, electricians and plumbers, these two new products offer the performance, ergonomics and innovative features professionals expect from DEWALT power tools and accessories.

“Our extensive research on jobsites clearly showed a demand for a cordless drill solution in a light, compact package that delivers on performance,” said Joerg Zellerhoff, senior product manager, DEWALT. “By focusing on light to medium drilling applications while maximizing the speed of the drill, we are able to meet the needs of professionals to ensure they have the right tool for their applications.”

To deliver comfortable and ergonomic drill/drivers, the new DEWALT DCD780C2 and DCD785C2 units use a 1.5 Amp Hour (Ah) slide-on Lithium Ion battery pack, which allowed engineers to develop a slim handle design.

In addition to the contoured grip on the handle, the new 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion drill/drivers are well balanced and compact enough to fit into tight areas.

The new compact drill/driver is 7-½ inches long, which is ½-inch shorter than current drill/drivers on the market. The new compact drill/driver and hammer drill are also lightweight, weighing 3.4 pounds and 3.5 pounds, respectively. This translates to comfort for contractors who use these drill/drivers and hammer drills throughout the day.

DEWALT also designed the new cordless compact drill/driver and hammer drill to alleviate the frustrations contractors often experience when using other drill/drivers. These specific frustrations include issues with performance and speed. For fast speed of application, the DCD780C2 and DCD785C2 deliver 2,000 RPM, which is up to 35 percent faster versus other leading 18 Volt Lithium Ion tools. Also, for optimized drilling and fastening, the compact drill/driver and hammer drill feature a high-speed transmission, which includes two different speed settings that deliver 0-600/0-2,000 RPM. To provide professionals with a reliable solution, DEWALT designed the compact drill/driver to include a ½-inch ratcheting chuck that helps to reduce bit slippage during high torque applications. The compact drills also each include a belt hook and on-board bit storage on the battery of the tool to save time otherwise spent locating and holding bits.

Both the DCD780C2 and DCD785C2 offer a bright LED light positioned above the trigger, with a 20-second delay for extended use in dimly lit spaces. A 1.5 Ah Lithium Ion battery powers the compact drills, which is smaller in size to allow for a more compact solution. However, the drills will also work with the 3.0 Ah Lithium Ion batteries that are available as replacement packs or come with the Premium drills or saws.

Additionally, DEWALT-designed electronic features are built into the switches of all 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion tools and lights. These electronics provide maximum life for the tools and batteries by helping to protect them from overheating, overloading and deep discharge during use. The charger for each of the items in the system has dual voltage capabilities, and it is compatible with 12 Volt MAX* and 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion DEWALT batteries.

The new 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion compact drill/driver and hammer drill will be available in September 2011 anywhere DEWALT products are sold. The compact drill/driver, sold with two 1.5 Ah Lithium Ion batteries and a charger, is expected to retail for approximately $219.00, and the compact hammer drill, is expected to retail for $239.00. They also will be offered in a variety of combo kit options.

Here is another new 20 volt tool coming from DeWalt---again most tools will be available in September while others will be later--

DEWALT® Launches New 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion Circular Saw With Improved Balance and Power That Allows for Increased Cutting Speed

TOWSON, Md. (June 2, 2011) – Today, DEWALT announces the launch of its new 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion Circular Saw (DCS391L1). The DCS391L1 features a lightweight magnesium shoe and optimized handle design for an ergonomic profile that is comfortable for contractors who use the tool regularly to complete tough jobsite applications. The new saw’s powerful 460 Max Watts Out (MWO) motor delivers the power and speed needed to make demanding cuts. The circular saw is ideal for remodelers, carpenters and professionals tasked with framing, cross cutting, ripping, bevel cuts and plunge cuts.

“We know our users are making countless cuts on jobsites every day, and after speaking with professionals, the need for a circular saw with the power to make these difficult cuts with ease was obvious,” said Sean Templeton, product manager, DEWALT. “With the new 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion circular saw, we’ve increased the power of our unit and extended battery runtime to allow contractors to make more cuts quickly and efficiently.”

Delivering 3,700 RPMs, the DCS391L1 is 10 percent more powerful than previous DEWALT 6-½ inch cordless circular saws. DEWALT® Launches New 20 Volt MAX* POWER. MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE Lithium Ion Cordless System

TOWSON, Md. (June 2, 2011) – Today, DEWALT announces the launch of its new 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion system, which includes a compact drill/driver (DCD780C2), premium drill/driver (DCD980L2), two impact drivers (DCF885C2 and DCF885L2), compact hammer drill (DCD785C2), premium hammer drill (DCD985L2), reciprocating saw (DCS380L1), circular saw (DCS391L1), SDS rotary hammer (DCH213L2), right angle drill (DCD740C1) and work light (DCL040). The 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion line was designed with innovations for high performing, long-lasting and comfortable tools professionals demand.

The 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion tools are ideal for professionals tasked with heavy-duty applications, including remodelers, carpenters, woodworkers, cabinet installers, electricians, mechanical contractors, plumbers and maintenance professionals.

“We are dedicated to continually optimizing our tools so that they meet the needs of professionals in a variety of trades. As part of our 20 Volt MAX* development process, we conducted extensive research and uncovered a need for cordless tools that offer performance in a compact, lightweight profile,” said Chris Keffer, director of marketing, DEWALT.

“We designed the new 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion line to surpass professionals’ expectations and address the need for tools that have the power to withstand rigorous jobsite applications, while also providing comfort and ease of use.”

Performance

The new 20 Volt MAX* system features compact and premium tools that offer 1.5 Amp Hour (Ah), and 3.0 Ah Lithium Ion batteries which provide up to 35 percent more runtime versus other leading 18 Volt Lithium Ion tools, so that professionals can select the tool and battery power that is more appropriate for the application at hand.

Ergonomics

The tools in the 20 Volt MAX* system feature a slim handle design that is more comfortable for extensive use based on significant field testing. In addition, the engineering and design team adjusted the product footprint and weight allocation for ideal balance and a lightweight feel. The 3.0 Ah 20 Volt MAX* battery is 38 percent lighter than DEWALT’s existing DC9180 18 Volt Lithium Ion battery. These improvements are essential to contractors who are using the tools all day long on the jobsite.

Innovative Features

Each item in the 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion line includes innovative features that allow for productivity and ease of use on the jobsite. For example, the impact drivers (DCF885C2 and DCF885L2) feature a ¼-inch hex chuck capable of one-handed bit loading and each tool accepts one-inch bit tips directly into the chuck to minimize front to back length of the tool.

The new impact drivers also include three LED lights positioned in a circle around the chuck. With a 20-second delay, these lights provide visibility and help to eliminate shadows in dimly lit spaces. The remaining fastening and drilling tools in the line feature an LED light above the trigger to provide visibility that also includes the 20-second delay.

DEWALT also has included innovation in the battery chargers themselves, as they feature dual voltage charging capabilities, making them compatible with 12 Volt MAX* and 20 Volt MAX* DEWALT Lithium Ion batteries. The new 12 Volt MAX* – 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion heavy duty chargers, DCB101 and vehicle charger DCB119, offer high-visibility LEDs in the same blink patterns as existing DEWALT offerings, molded cord wrap for optimal storage, and quick charge time of 30 minutes for the 1.5 Ah and 60 minutes for the 3.0 Ah Lithium Ion batteries. The DCB119 vehicle charger offers a 90-minute charge time.

DEWALT-designed electronics are built into the switches of all 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion tools and lights. These electronics provide maximum life for the tools and batteries by helping to protect them from overheating, overloading and deep discharge during use. All premium drill models in the new 20 Volt MAX* line (DCD985L2, DCD980L2) feature a three-speed setting which is proprietary to DEWALT. The three-speed settings give professionals the option to select the most appropriate speed for a given task.

The new 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion system will be available in September 2011 anywhere DEWALT products are sold. The products are expected to retail from $49.00 to $489.00. Several combo kits will be available, and they are expected to retail from $279.00 to $579.00.

How to get the MOST from you DeWalt batteries!!

Here is a guide to getting the most of your DeWalt batteries also Porter Cable and Black and Decker-- PLEASE read and pass on to all your friends and family---
Please note the very important step #3-- DO NOT TOTALLY DISCHARGE BATTERIES!!! and weekly or bi-weekly leave the batteries in the charger at least 24 hrs for full maintance cycle.

Here you go!!

2010 - Best Practices for Long Battery Pack Life

When using the DEWALT batteries and chargers, the batteries can last longer than double many of our competitors. To ensure the maximum life out of a battery pack there are some best practices which must be followed as general maintenance for Nickel Cadmium Batteries.

1. The battery will perform best if it is charged at room temperature. Do not charge in temperatures below 40 degrees Fahrenheit or above 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Under these conditions, the battery will not take a full charge, and may be permanently damaged.

2. If the battery is hot, let the it sit out of the charger for a least 2 hours until the battery is at room temperature. Otherwise, immediately place the battery pack in the charger.

3. Do not try to discharge the battery beyond the point where the tool no longer performs with the power and torque needed for the job, because it may cause permanent damage which will prevent the battery from taking a full charge. Do not tape trigger on the tool to discharge the battery

4. Store the battery in a cool, dry place. If temperatures exceed 120 degrees Fahrenheit, it may reduce the battery life.

5. Periodically charge the battery overnight to take full advantage of the 3-Stage Charging System for optimum runtime and battery life.

Check out the info:

TOWSON, Md. (March 31, 2011) – PORTER-CABLE announces the launch of its new corded (PC250MTK) and cordless (PCL120MTC-2) oscillating multi-tools. Both models have been designed to offer remodelers, carpenters, general contractors and a number of other professionals the quality and control they need to complete a variety of applications, including: cutting wood, drywall, and nails; sanding; grout removal; and scraping paint and caulk.

The units incorporate contractor-driven innovation such as the patent-pending, Tool Free System accessory change, which gives professionals the ability to quickly and efficiently change the tools’ accessories without bolts, washers, and wrenches. By simply pressing a lever, contractors can change the accessories or adjust the accessory angle. A release of the lever ensures the accessories easily click into place, ready for the application at hand, without the need for separate bolts, washers and wrenches.

“The introduction of our two new oscillating tools represents PORTER-CABLE’s commitment to jobsite innovation that is fueled by field research with contractors,” said Derek Vlcko, senior product manager, PORTER-CABLE. “Although this category is new for PORTER-CABLE, I am confident that we’re well-positioned to enter the oscillating power tool market due to the positive feedback we have received from contractors on the innovative Tool Free System.”

Corded Model – PC250MTK

The PC250MTK 36-Piece Corded Oscillating Multi-Tool Kit utilizes PORTER-CABLE’S groundbreaking Tool Free System and includes over $150 in accessories** that allow contractors to cut, sand, grind, and scrape. TOWSON, Md. (April 5, 2011) – DEWALT announced today the launch of its new line of hand tools, which will be available beginning in June 2011. The line includes more than 100 professional-grade products including utility knives, pliers, wrenches, tape measures, hammers, saws, toolboxes and more. Professionals trust DEWALT products because they are optimized to perform tough under real life conditions. Now, for the first time ever, contractors will benefit from a complete line of DEWALT hand tools and storage products that will increase productivity and meet jobsite demands.

“DEWALT is known for manufacturing professional power tools and accessories that are driven by field research and countless conversations with contractors,” said Tracie Gildea, director of global brand marketing. “Our new hand tools are no different. They have been rigorously tested on jobsites across the country and incorporate feedback we’ve received from the people who use these tools every day to earn a living. Based on our research and the testing these products have endured, we are confident DEWALT’s first line of hand tools will live up to even the toughest standards.”

Among the more than 100 products offered in the line, five of the most innovative tools include a 15 Ounce Framing Hammer (DWHT51138), a 1.25 inch, 25 Foot Short Tape (DWHT33385), a Power Tool Case with Tote (DWST24070), a Folding Retractable Utility Knife (DWHT10035) and multiple Heavy-Duty Adjustable Wrenches.

The framing hammer is the world’s first 15 ounce all-steel MIG Weld framing hammer. It touts a surprisingly lightweight design, but it can deliver the power to handle almost any professional wood framing applications. This hammer provides contractors with the strength and durability they need to maximize their level of productivity, and it helps to minimize arm fatigue.

The 25 foot short tape helps deliver durability for contractors. A patented technology, using a specially designed 3M Thermoplastic film adhered to the first six inches of the blade, extends the lifespan of the product compared to competitive units without the technology. The new tape was also designed with a durable casing and rubber slide lock that can withstand the daily rigors of jobsite abuse. Additionally, this tape offers 13 feet of standout* and includes an end hook that is larger than traditional end hooks. Both of these features enable professionals to work alone in situations where other tapes fall short.

The power tool case with tote is a two-in-one tool box that provides contractors with a portable storage option for tools and small accessories. This storage solution allows for power tools, hand tools and small parts such as drill bits and nails to be organized in the power tool case. For internal storage customization, the tool case has a removable divider that stores larger items in the bottom of the tote, helping to eliminate the need for multiple tool bags.

The utility knife is one of the first hybrid folding retractable utility knives of its kind, combining the convenience and space savings of a folding knife with the cutting performance of a traditional utility knife to create an all-in-one solution integral to any contractor.

Available in five sizes – 6 inch, 8 inch, 10 inch, 12 inch and 15 inch – the heavy-duty adjustable wrenches offer contractors a solution that can tackle nearly any professional wood framing, decking and plumbing applications.

The adjustable wrenches are stronger than the leading competitor on the market and offer durability that contractors can count on to move from one task to another quickly and efficiently.

Complete with a limited lifetime warranty and a service network unmatched in the industry, the new line of DEWALT hand tools will be available at The Home Depot as well as independent distributors beginning in June 2011.

The five featured products listed above are expected to retail as follows: Folding Retractable Utility Knife ($9.99), 25 Foot Short Tape ($24.99), Power Tool Case with Tote ($25.00), 15 Ounce Framing Hammer ($59.99), and Heavy-Duty Adjustable Wrenches ($10.99 – $34.99).

New DeWalt 7"/9" Polishers

DeWalt is introducing a couple new polishers, we will have them on our site when available so check back-- heres the latest:

TOWSON, Md. (March 30, 2011) – Today, DEWALT announces the launch of its two new 7”/9” Variable Speed Polishers (DWP849X and DWP849). Their new designs are lighter than their predecessor and deliver the power and speed control necessary for use on a variety of materials, ranging from cars and boats to metal and concrete surfaces. The DWP849X and DWP849 are ideal for, but not limited to, automotive detailers, paint specialists, metal fabricators and finishers.

“Research showed the need for a polisher that allows users to perform difficult jobs with as much speed control as possible,” said Kirk Reimer, product manager, DEWALT. “Our new 7”/9” Variable Speed Polishers offer professionals a combination of power and speed control that other units on the market do not offer.”

The DWP849X and DWP849 feature a powerful 12 AMP motor and a variable speed dial that delivers 0-600/0-3,500 RPM, giving users the power and speed they need for tough applications. In addition to the speed dial, the variable speed trigger allows users to further control the speed from zero to the specified maximum setting (600 to 3,500 RPM).

The DWP849X offers several additional upgrades to the DWP849 that result in greater control, comfort and durability. The DWP849X includes the (CFS) Controlled Finishing System® with soft start to give users improved speed control and finish quality. In addition to the traditional straight side handle, the DWP849X comes with a three-position bale handle for multiple gripping options. It also offers an ergonomically sculpted rear handle with rubber overmold, as well as a non-marring rubber gear case cover which helps to reduce the chance of finish scuffs or scratches. The ergonomic two-finger trigger helps to reduce user fatigue by accommodating a range of finger positions for professionals using the tool over an extended period of time; all of these features provide improved comfort and speed control compared to traditional polishers.

The hook and loop backing pad, which is included with the DWP849X, allows for quick, tool-free accessory changes. Hook and loop accessories available on the market are compatible with the unit, giving users the option to choose the accessory that will provide the appropriate finish quality, depending on the application. Contributing to the durability of the DWP849X are the wool ingestion shields covering the air intake. These shields help to eliminate wool and debris ingestion, increasing the life the tool.

Both 7”/9” Variable Speed Polishers will be priced competitively, and they will be available through independent construction and automotive distributors, as well as online, in May 2011. Both tools will come standard with a three-year limited warranty, one-year free service contract and 90-day money-back guarantee. For more information visit: Dewalt.com.

DW8500 Diamond Cut Off Wheel

In case you have not heard DeWalt has a new 14" cut off wheel--- it has a diamond edge-- normally you expect the diamond blades to be for tile and stone but this one is specially made for METAL and not only can you use it on metal, it can also be used on concrete, plastic, fiberglass, rubber, non-ferrous metals and other soft materials without loading.

Another great thing about this blade is it will last--- you would go through 100 of the regular cut off blades and only one of these PLUS you can use it on other media not just metal.
Now this blade has a little bit of a price tag--$249.00 BUT if you figure the cost of 100 cut off wheels, say average cost of 6.00 per blade-- that is 600.00 (give or take) you spend on blades vs one blade at 249.00.

I think these are or will be available in a bulk pack also for you business guys-- as soon as we have this info you will see it on our website.

Check it out!

DEWALT® Unveils New Pin Anchor Drive System

DEWALT® Unveils New Pin Anchor Drive System Reducing the Number of Steps Required to Set an Anchor
TOWSON, Md. (Jan. 19, 2011)

Today, DEWALT announces the launch of its new Pin Anchor Drive System (DW5517PAD), which has been engineered to reduce contractors’ frustrations associated with attaching anchors to concrete, including hammering overhead to set an anchor, bending an anchor while hammering or damaging the surface when installing into brick. The new Pin Anchor System—proprietary with DEWALT SDS Plus 3/16 inch and 1/4 inch drill bits—is ideal for mechanical, masonry, concrete, electrical and general contractors who commonly use pin anchors to fasten PVC pipe, conduit, unistrut and other light loads requiring 3/16 inch and 1/4 inch holes. This is also ideal for tight areas where a contractor cannot always fit a hammer into the space.

“Contractors rely on us to develop solutions that address their concerns and ultimately lead to increased productivity on the job-site,” explained Maurice LaPointe, product manager, DEWALT. “After talking to professionals about the issues they face when it comes to attaching anchors to concrete during rough in, we saw an opportunity to develop our new Pin Anchor System, which reduces the number of steps required to set an anchor and eliminates the need for additional hammering by the contractor.”

By using a rotary hammer to drive an anchor into the hole, the innovative DW5517PAD eliminates several steps, including users having to put their rotary hammer down and locate their hammer in order to finish the application.

Once users have drilled a hole into concrete using their DEWALT rotary hammer, the pin anchor sleeve slides over the SDS Plus bit and locks into place. When the sleeve is locked and the pin anchor is in place, the rotary hammer drives the anchor into the hole, eliminating the need for any additional hammering.

The Pin Anchor System will be available at all DEWALT retailers beginning in January 2011, and it is expected to retail for approximately $30.
