DEWALT® Launches New 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion System With New Slide Battery Packs for the Performance and Ergonomics Professionals Need
TOWSON, Md. (June 2, 2011) – Today, DEWALT announces the launch of its new line of 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion batteries that are offered in 1.5 Amp Hour (Ah) (DCB201) and 3.0 Ah (DCB200) configurations. Additionally, DEWALT is launching two new heavy-duty chargers, DCB101 and vehicle charger DCB119, as part of the tool line. The new batteries are compatible with all of the tools in the new DEWALT 20 Volt MAX* system, and the chargers are compatible with all DEWALT 12 Volt MAX* and 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion batteries. The new batteries and chargers are engineered to meet professional end user needs for versatile performance, ease of use and durability for the jobsite.
“Everyday professionals are faced with a variety of tasks on the jobsite, and our new system gives them the ability to use two battery configurations based on the specific application. For the most demanding long run-time applications, we offer end users our 3.0 Ah packs that provide extended run-time. For lighter duty applications or for applications where ergonomics is critical, our end users can use our 1.5 Ah packs,” said John Castelino, senior product manager, DEWALT.
“As part of this launch, we’re also including two new heavy-duty chargers that will not only charge our 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion batteries but also our 12 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion batteries. This enables DEWALT to offer a unique advantage to professionals.”
The new 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion batteries slide onto the tool, which allowed DEWALT engineers to develop a slim, ergonomic handle design. DEWALT battery packs have a built in finger groove that provides end users with an easily accessible gripping surface, when paired with the wide-latch buttons on the batteries, both features allow end users to quickly load and unload battery packs from our tools and chargers.
When using the DCB101, the 1.5 Ah Lithium Ion battery takes just 30 minutes to charge, and the 3.0 Ah Lithium Ion battery takes only 60 minutes to charge. For mobile charging capabilities or when a wall outlet is not available, the DCB119 charges all DEWALT 12 Volt MAX* and 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion batteries from a vehicle’s power outlet.
The DCB101 and DCB119 heavy-duty chargers are also designed for ease of use and durability. Both chargers feature high-visibility LED bars allowing for clear indication of the charge progress. For optimal durability and storage on the jobsite, each of the chargers is designed with a molded cord wrap.
The new 20 Volt MAX* Lithium Ion batteries and chargers will be available in September 2011 anywhere DEWALT products are sold. The 1.5 Ah Lithium Ion battery and heavy-duty charger are expected to retail for $79.00 ($109.00 for a 2-pack), and the 3.0 Ah Lithium Ion battery and heavy-duty automotive charger are expected to retail for $99.00 ($159.00 for a 2-pack).
